Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation elects Douglas Brinkley, Hilary Hamm, Chevy Humphrey, and David Saggau to Board of Trustees
MEDORA, NORTH DAKOTA — The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation expanded their Board with four notable new trustees.
Douglas Brinkley is the Katherine Tsanoff Brown Chair in Humanities and Professor of History at Rice University. He is also a CNN Presidential Historian and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. Seven of his books are New York Times bestsellers; notable among them is The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America. He is on the Board of Trustees at Brevard College and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library. He is a member of the Century Association, the Council of Foreign Relations, and the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress.
Hilary Hamm is Director of Federal Affairs & Corporate Sustainability at Continental Resources. Prior to this role, she helped build the partnerships team at Concordia, a nonprofit organization that facilitates meaningful partnerships for positive social impact. She serves as Chair of the Hamm Family Council, and she is a Board Member of the Arnall Family Foundation. She holds an MPA from Columbia SIPA and a BA from Dartmouth College.
Chevy Humphrey is currently the President and CEO of the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. She is the first woman and Black American to lead this remarkable organization. Prior to joining MSI, she had been president and CEO of the Arizona Science Center. Chevy has also held leadership positions at the Phoenix Symphony, the Houston Symphony, the University of Houston, and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a recognized civic leader and currently serves as Chair of the Board of the American Alliance of Museums. She is a former Chair of the Board of the Association of Science and Technology Centers.
David Saggau is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Great River Energy, headquartered in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Great River Energy is a not-for-profit wholesale electric power cooperative serving twenty-seven member-owner distribution cooperatives. David has deep roots in Medora, North Dakota, and the region. Along with his philanthropic leadership, David brings an abundance of financial and governance experience.

The Norwegian and U.S. firm Snohetta is the design architect for the project, working alongside North Dakota based architect of record, JLG. The construction manager is JE Dunn, based out of Dickinson, ND.
The Theodore Roosevelt Land Conveyance Act of 2020 gave the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation the opportunity to purchase 93-acres of U.S. Forest Service land. The Roosevelt family provided the funds to acquire the land in a transaction that was completed in 2022.
Theodore Roosevelt lived and ranched in North Dakota after the death of his wife and mother on February 14, 1884. His home ranch, The Elkhorn Ranch, is known as the "cradle of conservation" and is now part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. T.R. National Park is the only park named for a person.
The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation is a private, non-profit organization which relies on philanthropic support to fund its mission. Benefactors to the project come from all fifty states. Fundraising continues as the project moves toward construction.
